Hatch oversees environmental work for Kangra Coal
May 14, 2012
Hatch has been retained by Kangra Coal (Pty) Ltd. to manage the environmental assessment practitioner at the Kangra Coal Kusipongo Expansion Project, located in Piet Retief, Mpumalanga, South Africa.
Hatch is managing the environmental assessment practitioner (EAP) responsible for undertaking the authorization processes for various environmental permits. Permits are required before any construction or mining activities may be undertaken.
Hatch provided the engineering design for the expansion project, and the client saw value in Hatch’s Environmental Services Group managing the environmental assessment practitioner and ensuring integration between the engineering design and the authorization processes. Hatch’s involvement will provide improved integration between the environmental and social studies, permitting processes and the engineering design. Based on the project work the client expects to receive all the required environmental permits.
The project began in 2010 and is scheduled for completion in 2013. The Woodmead office is participating in the project.
