Hatch develops metallurgical tests for Swedish project
May 28, 2012
Hatch has been retained by Continental Precious Minerals Inc (CPM) to prepare a metallurgical testwork plan for the development of a mineral-bearing shale deposit for the Viken project, located in the central part of Sweden approximately 500 kilometres south of the Arctic Circle.
A recent preliminary economic assessment (completed by others) demonstrated sensitivity of the project economics to capital cost, operating cost and pay-metal recoveries, leading CPM to research alternative processes to recover as much economic value as possible from the shale.
Hatch will review work completed to date, and develop and execute a plan to conduct further metallurgical testwork. This will allow for the development of capital and operating cost estimates to determine which of the various process alternatives has the highest likelihood of economic success, and to provide recommendations for the next steps.
The assignment began in February 2012 and is to be completed by December 2012. Offices in Mississauga and Saskatoon are participating in the project.
