Hatch sheds light on Indonesian project
November 14, 2011
Hatch has been retained by PT International (PTI) Nickel Indonesia Tbk to develop a blackout reduction plan for its Sorowako facility, located in South Sulawesi, Indonesia.
The Hatch team will work cooperatively with PT Inco personnel to collect information and develop a plan to reduce the blackout occurrences. The Hatch site team are engineers with power electrical and control system backgrounds, and will be supported by senior staff with previous PT Inco site experience, and relevant protection and controls experience.
The client requires the work to be done to limit the production impact on the furnaces caused by clean grid blackouts. This will enable them to continually meet furnace production objectives.
The work will include collecting and reviewing previous blackout incident reports and power system one line diagrams, reviewing operating loads, analyzing the data and developing an action plan, which will include cost estimates and schedules for any additional studies.
The project began in August 2011 and is scheduled for completion in November 2011. The Mississauga office’s Transmission & Distribution and Technologies groups are working on the project.
